• A July Sale!

Every year Smashwords has a sale in July wherein books can be reduced 25, 50 or 75%. Some are even made temporarily free!

This year I have entered both of my books into the sale. If you haven't got them already, now is the time! Please invite all your friends.

  • Time for Summer Reading!

May is traditionally the month when readers collect their book choices for summer holidays, so Jack Dawkins is temporarily reduced to .99 on both Amazon and Smashwords until the end of the month.

  • What Lies Ahead?

Well, the holidays have passed and everything is beginning to get back to normal once again. My Christmas story did fairly well in the few days nearest Christmas, though I had finished it too late to expect a major impact. The hard copy will come out, but I doubt there will be a lot of interest until we get much closer to Christmas once again!

So, though classes and lectures take much of my time at present, I can continue work on other novels that I started in 2014. It's time for me to remove myself from the Victorian era for a little while and do something different.

I'm not going to place any deadlines because good writing takes time, and that is something I have too little of in my daily life, but I will make progress in some sort of steady fashion. Perhaps I will have a new story ready for Summer reading. The big publishers put out their holiday reading catalogue in May, so that would be a reasonable goal to strive for, but I make no promises. We'll just have to see how it goes.

  • A Christmas With The Dodger, 99 cent introductory price

Well, it was a close thing, but I managed to finish my Christmas story before the holiday. A Christmas With The Dodger is now available on ebook on Amazon and Smashwords for an introductory price of 99 cents. Regular price will be $2.99 as of 1st January.

Technically it is a novella because the word count is not quite 36,000, but it is as long as it needed to be to tell the story of Reg Dawkins, adopted son of The Artful Dodger. I have to say that I feel pleased with it, despite having pushed myself to finish before the holiday.

As for how anyone else feels about it, well, I'll have to read the feedback. It has given me satisfaction to write it and that's a good start.

Hopefully I'll be moving on to other projects that await my attention in the new year. For now, a Happy Christmas to everyone.

  • Read Tuesday

Tomorrow, 9th December is the Read Tuesday event. http://readtuesday.com/

It is a worldwide sale of ebooks in many genres, utilising Amazon's Countdown deals, Smashwords coupons and anything else authors and publishers wish to employ to mark books down to 99 cents, or equivalent in local currencies.

My first book, Jack Dawkins, is participating, and so will be on sale for 99 cents tomorrow. It's a mark down rather than a Countdown, so the discount applies at all Amazon shops. http://www.amazon.com/Jack-Dawkins-Charlton-Daines-ebook/dp/B00C4CVEFM/ref=tmm_kin_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&sr=8-1&qid=1418051870

Also there is a Smashwords coupon, PK57H, if you prefer a different format. https://www.smashwords.com/books/view/301093

The event is designed to promote literacy, so do have a look. In the meantime, the price reductions on Jack Dawkins are in force now, but will go back to regular price on the 10th.
